Fat Dissolving
Stubborn areas of fat can be a nuisance, as it can be very difficult to near impossible to get rid of these through diet and exercise alone. Fat around the chin area can be embarrassing and cause us to feel very self-conscious. However, invasive surgery can be expensive and can mean long recovery times, as well as carrying the risks associated with a general anaesthetic and the possibility of scarring.
Deso is an injectable substance which is used to treat localised, stubborn fat on the face and the body. This fat simply doesn’t shift, no matter how much a patient may diet or exercise. The treatment is a form of lipolysis, a non-invasive procedure which helps to accelerate the body’s own, natural fat removal process. The active ingredient in Deo is deoxycholic acid – a bile acid which naturally emulsifies as well as solubilises the dietary fats within the intestine. Deso is a cytolytic medication, meaning that it helps to break down one specific type of cell – in the case of Deso, the fat cells. The substance is injected under the skin and gets to work on these fat cells.
Chin Area
One of the most common facial complaints we hear from our patients is that they dislike the appearance of their ‘double chin’, or a stubborn pocket of fat below the jawline. This fat is difficult to budge with diet and exercise alone, and whilst it can often be avoided on photographs and in day-to-day life by extending the neck and tilting the chin upwards slightly, its appearance is unavoidable when the head is tilted forwards or at rest.
One treatment we offer which can help with this issue is DESO Face fat dissolving injections. The area of concern is injected with Deso to liquefy (and permanently destroy) fat cells, which drain naturally through the body’s lymphatic system over the course of a few weeks. A course of 2 - 6 treatments is recommended for optimum results. The under chin area is classed as a small area.
Under Arms/ Bingo Wings
The term "bingo wings" usually refers to the fat deposits (arm fat) in the triceps area. . This condition mainly effects women - but can also affect men. Even if there is no build-up of fat deposits factors such as weight loss or ageing can create loose skin around the arms, which can increase the drooping effect in the under-arm area also creating a ‘bingo wing’ appearance.
The fat which sits on the upper arm is usually caused by age, slow metabolism, and/or excessive weight. This area has shallow and deep layers of fat; it is the superficial layer of fat that increases in size with age and can eventually lead to a noticeable fatty growth under the upper arm. This area of the upper arm can lose its firmness with sudden weight loss, or with age, and the skin can start to droop. There are different treatments available to remove bingo wings or arm fat, or to improve the quality of arm skin quickly.
This is classed as a Small Area.
Bra Rolls & Upper Back Fat
This includes areas surrounding the bra and upper back. The number of treatments depends on the amount of stubborn fat to be removed in a particular part of the body. Back fat, or “bra fat” is the annoying pockets of fatty tissue that collects around the upper, mid and lower back area. Many women feel very self-conscious of this and avoid wearing tight clothing or anything that will highlight the area. Due to diet, exercise, and hormones our body likes to lay fat down in the back area. As we get older this can become harder to maintain as our metabolism slows down. These areas can be treated with DESO Body.
This is classed as a large area and for optimal results, treatments should be repeated every 3 to 4 weeks until desired results have been achieved and usually within 2-4 sessions.
Under Buttocks/ Banana Roll Fat
Banana roll fat is a stubborn type of subcutaneous fat that builds up in the space between the lower buttocks and upper thigh. This wobbly type of fat sits just below the surface of the skin and is more difficult to remove than visceral fat, which sits deeper in the skin. This is classed as a large area and for optimal results a course of 2 - 6 treatments is recommended.
Love Handles
The term ‘love handles’ refers to an area of fat that sits outwards from the hips. Also known as the flanks, fat in this area is often a common problem area with many patients unhappy with how clothing looks as love handles can become more pronounced when wearing tight clothing.
Love handles are caused by fat accumulation in the area. Fat stores on the body when too many calories have been consumed and you’re not burning as many calories. as you are consuming.
Although fat can appear anywhere on the body, certain factors that can increase the appearance of fat on the hips/love handles, lower back and abdominal areas include;
